Kota My Triceratops Dinosaur Most Wanted Toy

Kota My Triceratops Dinosaur

Kota My Triceratops Dinosaur
was a Most Wanted Toy in 2008!

And he's still pretty cool!

Kota My Triceratops Dinosaur by Playskool was one of 2008's hottest toys. Kota is a life-size, robotic baby dinosaur that children (and maybe some adults) really seem to dig. He has a range of sound effects, animatronics and music. He blinks, snores, munches, and roars.

For all the coolness of Kota there is one area in which Playskool could do a little better, OK - 2 areas. First, Kota makes a good deal of mechanical noise. When he turns his head or closes his eyes you can hear the mechanics. It sounds like a really loud wind-up toy. It's not the biggest deal (to me anyway) but considering the price tag, it would be nice if Kota were a bit quieter. And that brings me to the second area for improvement - The Price Tag. Seriously, in 2008 Kota was being sold at many toy stores for around $300. That's a lot of dough.

Perhaps Preskool had the price tag issue in mind when they introduced Kota and Pals Stompers, small interactive animated dinosaurs that are available for around $30. They have been getting mostly positive to neutral reviews at amazon.com A recurring theme is that older children, 6 and up seem to tire of them quickly. If that's the problem I highly recommend a toy I was recently introduced to - TERRORdactyl!

Terrordactyl Interactive Dinosaur

animated toy older kids will enjoy!

Interactive Terrordactyl Dinosaur If the dinosaur fan in your life is at least 6 years old AND your on a careful budget, you might want to check out Terrordactyl, an amusing interactive dinosaur by Mattel.

Watch out, he doesn't just look mischievous, he actually is. He coos and purrs and chirps affection and then "SNAP!" he lunges for whoever is closest to him. For extra fun, he comes with soft dart-type things that can be loaded into his mouth so he can "spit" at his targets. His tail is curled into the perfect shape to allow him to 'perch' on your arm - and that just looks cool.

Yeah, this is a departure from the cute and cuddly Kota, but older kids (and some aunts) think this stuff is pretty entertaining. And besides, Terrordactyl isn't all naughty - he comes equipped with 2 settings so his aggressive "Snap Attacks" can be turned off, leaving you with a much friendlier dinosaur.

You can check out more Terrordactyl reviews here I've seen him priced at around $30 on many websites but you should check your local department store's toy isle, we were able to get one for $19.99, and he is worth every penny!
